Improving The Academic Achievement Of The Disadvantaged

Title I Preschool Round-up, March 22

The Knox County Schools will be accepting applications for Title I Preschool students at Sam E. Hill Preschool and Fair Garden Preschool.

 

Eligibility guidelines:

·       Students who live in a Title I school zone are eligible to attend.

Title I schools:

            Adrian Burnett       Fountain City                          Pleasant Ridge

            Beaumont             Gap Creek                               Pond Gap

            Belle Morris           Green Magnet                         Sarah Moore Greene

            Carter                    Inskip                                      South Knox

            Chilhowee              Lonsdale                                Spring Hill

            Christenberry         Maynard                                 Sunnyview

            Dogwood               Mooreland Heights                 West Haven

            East Knox              Norwood                                 West View

 

·       Students must be four years of age on or before August 15, 2013.

 

Students living in the transportation zone for the school will be accepted first. If space remains, students from other Title I schools will be accepted.

Limited positions for three year olds:

There are limited positions for students who qualify as three year olds and have a birthdate on or before August 15, 2013.

 

To obtain an application, please go to the school between 2 and 5 p.m on Friday, March 22, 2013.

Title I (Education Consolidation and Improvement Act-ECIA P.L. 97-35) is part of the ESEA Act first passed by Congress in 1965.  Its purpose is to provide and operate programs in high poverty areas, for children who need extra educational assistance to perform at the level for his/her age and grade level.  Funds are distributed to Title I schools for additional personnel, the purchase of materials and supplies, and staff development opportunities.
